It Meets All Objectives - Science Diet Dog Food Critique

By Gabriel Alexander

I would recommend it to anyone. My next door neighbor orders it now from Amazon for his Pittie girl.

It looks and smells good too. Unfortunately, none of this matters to my dog Daisy. Since we changed over to Newman's, the skin problems have almost gone away. It's been about 2 months and she has her fur growing back in the problem areas, she has less dandruff and I've noticed a lot less scratching from her in general. After the transition it took a couple of days for her to get used to it, but once she did she loves it. My dog is quite picky about her food and she likes "junk food" better rather than wholesome food and treats (of course!). I like that this is a reasonably priced organic dog food that is readily available. I switched to this when the brand I had been feeding my dogs for years began to upset the tummy of my senior.

The Canidae Grain-Free All Life Stages has a 34% protein level, which seems to do better with my Shetland sheepdogs' stomachs than the higher protein kibbles. I've fed another brand of grain-free kibble (Innova EVO turkey & chicken) that had 42% protein which was too high for them to handle even when switching to it gradually and only getting a 1/4 cup a day, 42% protein made their poo liquid. Riley is still looking good. No sudden hair loss, healthy, energetic, eating as I type, still happy with this decision, and am still using it.

My three year old Pittie girl also eats this food, and loves it. She is in perfect health.

Newman brands are high quality, and I can get it delivered on a periodic basis and a fixed price thru Amazon. Ginger likes it and it keeps her healthy. But it's not Newman's. I signed up for the monthly subscription for this item.

Unlike a lot of subpar dog foods, there is no corn! Plus, my dogs love its taste, and it's a great value for the quality of this food. I do remember a dog food recall a couple years back where dogs were getting very sick due to a contamination of sorts, but Canidae was never part of the recalled list, as far as I know. I know all about gas, I have labs, no matter what you feed them they have some sort of gas. I've changed my dogs to Eagle Pack Holistic Selects. It's more expensive, but they are back to their old selves, healthy, no digestive troubles, and great coats.

Notice all of them are at the beginning, which means they make up quite a bit of the diet. Soy protein is included but some dogs don't do well with soy (mine) and meat should be the protein source in dog food, not grains. It was very oily and fishy smelling, which I realize they did at more fish oil. After about three weeks of the new food, I noticed my puppies (well now 1 year olds) skin was very flaky like dandruff and they both had been continuous licking their paws.
