Why it should make a difference when you call the hotel and get a price as opposed to jumping on your computer and getting a price is not something that is easily understood for most people. So if you do get a good or even great deal on a room, you should take advantage of it and know that the hotel wouldn't be doing it if they couldn't and that you are still a valuable customer to them.

Look for similarly rated rooms in the same area and do a little price comparison on your own.
