Reasons To Learn Spanish In Chile

By Ammanda Sirruse

Students these days are looking for ways to maximize their career opportunities after they graduate from college and hopefully stand a chance of getting a better job. Smart move really, to think that more and more people are struggling with unemployment nowadays; and if there are opportunities that would increase your chances of getting hired for well paying jobs, then why not take them? One of the things that make a potential employee stand out from his or her fellow job seekers is if that employee can proficiently converse in a foreign language like Spanish, for instance.

This is why study abroad opportunities are very much in demand among hundreds of college students. There's a good number of these college students who prefer to enroll and study in Spanish schools in Chile. If you are wondering what's the point of doing so, there are actually a number of reason behind this choice.

First of all, if a student prefers to stay in the US for example, to study Spanish, there's absolutely nothing wrong with doing so. Thinking about it, studying Spanish here is more convenient, more affordable and saves you a lot of effort. However, the chances you will learn quickly, and be able to converse in Spanish very well is not as great when you study in Spanish schools in Santiago, for example.

If you're wondering why, it's because you'll spend every single minute of your semester in Chile speaking in nothing but Spanish; meaning, you'll get to practice your language skills more frequently and this will result to you becoming very proficient in Spanish after only a few months. How else are you going to interact with people around you if you won't converse in Spanish?

When you study Spanish from home, this does not provide you the same level of practice and immersion in the language and the culture of the people who are native Spanish speakers; besides, you'll go back to speaking in the vernacular after your classes and how is that going to be helpful in your studies?

And when you finally decide to study abroad in Vina del Mar, take the time to go over all of your available options before you finally decide on a specific school to enroll in or a study abroad program to send your applications to. Studying out of the country is an investment of your time, effort and your money; that much is a given - but you can also look at it as an investment you are making for your career and your future.
