Perhaps this one just happened to be defective or perhaps my expectations were a little too high. Either way I do not recommend this for any kind of purpose. If only it had built in rechargeable batteries it would be perfect! If I could give this item negative stars I would. This fan is hugely overpriced and not worth the $49.98 plus shipping.

It's best for when you're standing still. I was disappointed to hear its effectiveness diminishes in hot humid conditions. Don't waste your money on this. It does not work. With its innovative technology it cools more than your regular fan. I've been using it nonstop since I bought it and it really does cool the air down by around 20F!
I am going through menopause and having the handy cooler sit right next to me on my desk at work helps out a lot. When I feel a hot flash coming on, I just have to turn it on and I instantly feel better.

I bought one with reluctance at the time because I have invested a lot of money in the past for multiple portable cooling devices but nothing lasted me that long or always had some type of fault but I figured with the four star rating that it couldn't go too wrong. The first thing I did when I got it in the mail was soak the filter and fit it into the device, it was a very easy process and immediately felt the cooling. The stream and velocity of air you can get with this (with the sponge and the speed toward high) is much stronger than I imagined. It depends on what you need. Otherwise, a great little mini air conditioner, that runs on batteries! I took this on my trip to Disneyworld in Florida and we are glad we bought this with us! I use this air cooler when I play golf. The waiting intervals can be quite long and it is not pleasant standing out in the sun.

I have this train air conditioners just a couple feet from your bed, and it is still peaceful enough to permit sleep. Individuals have talked about a smell coming from this stuff, however I have not observed anything yet like some ductless air conditioning review mentioned.
