Stashing the right things in your carry-on luggage is the real secret. Travelers come up with a list of things they will use once they arrive at their destination. However, some of them forget certain essentials while aboard an airplane.

As they say, time flies when you're having fun. That is why you should have a form of entertainment or two. En route to the airport, grab a paperback novel whose storyline makes it hard to put down. Some people prefer magazines instead as they are lighter and oftentimes cheaper, and may be disposed of easily so they won't eat up precious luggage space.

If you're a techie, ensure that you have your favorite electronic gadget around. Stick to something that is highly portable, especially if you appreciate packing lightly. These days, you won't have a shortage of devices to choose from. They range from MP3 players, e-book readers, to tablets that let you do so many things. See to it that you have them charged fully before you head out. It won't hurt to have extra batteries stashed in the pocket of your carry-on luggage.

A happy tummy makes long plane rides more bearable. Don't forget to pack some snacks which can be of great help when you get hungry or even bored. Go for treats that you love. However, it's a good idea to stay away from greasy ones or those that are hard to digest. Be considerate to other passengers by avoiding boarding a plane with smelly snacks.

Temperature inside the plane can drop considerably. Protect yourself from it by bringing a jacket, small blanket and a pair of socks. Keep your skin from getting dry by buying lotion and a stick of lip balm once you have passed the security terminal.

When you quit counting down the hours, long flights tend to appear shorter. The best way to do so is by getting some sleep. This is also great so that you can feel revitalized and look fresh when you get to your destination. Take some essentials aboard the plane to get you to dreamland, such as earplugs, eye mask and a small yet comfy pillow.
