50 Shades of Grey - 50 Shades Darker Book Summary

By Mary Williams

The second book of the 50 shades of grey trilogy builds on the first book and takes off from when Ana and Christian Grey broke up. At this point, Ana starts working for the publishing company she was hired at in the first book. She decides to move on with her life and focus on her work. Of course, Christian has different plans. He is so obsessed with Ana that he goes as far as to buy the entire publishing company she works for.

He is determined to have total control of Ana. He knew that in order for him to control her, he had to take control of her life. By him controlling everything she did, he was able to eventually take control of her. He also decides to hold off on the submissive contract, as he knows that it did not go over so well in the first book. His love for Ana is so tremendous that he decides he'd rather have her, even if she didn't sign the contract. This was hard for him to accept because he had converted to the submissive lifestyle a long time ago. He was also very private about this. He tried everything in his power to hide his past from Ana. This is the reason Ana told christian that she and her roommate thought he was gay. Neither of them had ever seen him with another woman before.

Meanwhile, Ana feels special because he actually allowed her to be in a picture with him. As time goes on, Ana slowly starts to realize that she is falling deeply in love with Christian. She comes to terms with the fact that it's not just the huge attraction and passion that draws her to him, it's everything. As time passes, Christian continues to let Ana in his life and constantly showers her with glamorous gifts. At this point Ana makes the choice to get back with Grey.

Despite Christian's best efforts to keep his past a secret, Ana soon finds out about his submissive encounters, by probing his mother and shrink. To add more gas to the fire, one of Christian's submissive partners ends up paying him an unexpected visit. She comes with the intent to harm him and Ana. It's not really clear as to why she chose to show up, or what exactly it was she was looking for.

The only thing that really mattered was that she was not too happy. She even goes as far as to slash Ana's tires and paint her car. The situation escalates even more when Christian finds out that she has purchased a gun permit. Ana has by now come to realize that she is envious toward Christian's ex. This makes her extremely angry. Ana is now forced to decide on whether or not staying with Christian is such a good idea.
