Driving the California Shore: Your Vacation destination is Waiting

By Mohammad Compos

Have you ever been to Northern California? If you are not aware, this part of our country is really a wonderful place to visit. If you are not aware, or have not traveled there in your life this article is for you. I want to tell you all about the California Redwoods and just how inspirational they are to visit.

Just north of San Francisco you will find a large area of California where the redwood trees grow almost untouched. And these trees are not like anything you have seen anywhere else either. The California Redwoods can grow almost 200 feet tall and are often as big around as a small car. A number of them are so large that you can actually drive your vehicle straight through a hole cut in the trunk.

But because of all of the deforestation in the area there is a possibility that these giant redwoods may not be here in the future. Hopefully there will be a conservation effort that will save them though. It would be a shame to see these sleeping giants end their time on earth.

There is one section of the forest named the Avenue of the Giants. This particular area has some of the largest giant redwoods anywhere. There are a lot of great campgrounds located in this area as well for those of you who enjoy spending time outdoors.

If you stay southbound in this neck of the woods, you'll eventually get to the small coastal town of Ft Bragg. Bragg CA. This small fishing and logging community is one of the most majestic places in the country if you ask me. The town sits right on the Pacific Ocean and is home to all sorts of sport fishing such as salmon and cod fishing.

If you ever get the chance to go through these areas of California, I highly advise you spend a few extra days enjoying the sights. One day these great landmarks might not be around anymore, and it would be quite a shame to overlook them.
