What Lanzarote has to offer

By Nathan Lentini

The Canary Islands of Spain are an extremely popular tourist location and the easternmost island of Lanzarote is no exception. Lansarote has soft sandy beaches adorning its perimeter and the clear blue Atlantic surrounding them. Further in on the island the landscape is just as spectacular with a mixture of mountains and small villages connected mainly by winding mountainside roads. Because of the constantly warm climate, Lanzarote has become a great holiday spot but it isn't just the temperature which attracts people, Lanzarote has lots more to offer.

One of the most well known and most popular attractions in Lanzarote is the Timanfaya national park. The park has been used in huge films because its terrain is so unique. The many volcanoes in the park erupted hundreds of years ago and created a landscape like no other. Some of the volcanoes are still live and this is part of the attraction. Pouring water into certain areas causes small eruptions which are amazing to watch.

The high temperatures of Lanzarote mean that whatever activities people choose to do, they are made much more enjoyable. A really good way to make the most of the heat is to take a boat excursion on the outskirts of the island. The excursions vary so there is something for everyone, fishing charters; catamaran and yacht excursions are just a few of the choices.

Another popular thing that a lot of people try for the first time in Lanzarote is diving. There are diving experiences for all levels of experience and for all budgets. The dives vary in depth and the type of fish you see will become more and more exotic the more you advance. For the really adventurous there is also night diving.

If that wasn't enough there are plenty of other things to do including jet skiing, quad biking, buggy excursions and the fantastic banana boat experience. Of course after that you will want some time to relax and get your breath back so the bars and restaurants in the many picturesque villages are the perfect place to do just that.
