3 Important Tips to Help You Host a Webinar

By Inger Auther

Webinars have much more going on than you might initially think. This gets back to old fashioned marketing except you are giving an oral presentation, basically. If you give it some serious thought you'll see that this is true. Both use the principles of marketing and public speaking. The beginning may seem a bit unnerving, but you will find that it gets a lot easier. You need to learn to be persistent when you want to find success with your webinars. They can do so much for the profit margin of your business which makes them worth the effort.

Don't forget that you need to offer excellent content and if you want to throw in an offer, keep it towards the end. If you never get to the point and like to talk a lot about everything under the sun, you stand a good chance of failing. Just like a sales letter that takes too long to make a point. People stop skimming and they will never read it. So, make sure you stick to the salient points without any filler. Make the whole presentation more efficient and keep things on track to avoid boring people to tears. People's minds will start to wander if you do too much unnecessary talking and they will miss the point.

Remember that your audience is made up of business professionals who are there to get valuable information. If you interrupt the feeding of content, then they will begin to feel resentful. They will feel like they could have been more productive doing other things.

You can drop the ball with webinar registrations just like you can with asking for an optin to your email list. A good way to kill an email list is to require opt-ins to submit phone numbers and addresses to sign up. It's an extreme scenario but you get the point in terms of the amount and the nature of the information you should be asking for. Same with the webinar, you can kill the response by asking for too much. Most webinars do not require so much information. So definitely never ask for too much and only what is absolutely needed to get them in the door.

Usually, you will not have too many times that you can make errors with the people who are on your email list. Not all of your subscribers will drop off, but you might have a few. Webinars are a great way to market your products and services to your target market and audience. Even if you haven't used webinars before now, this is a great opportunity to start doing so. As long as you are okay with the idea of stepping outside of your comfort zone, it isn't hard to do a webinar at all. Maybe you have been in the audience at one time or another. So you already understand what they're about.
