I Had a Cruise around Corfu

By Giles Ingram

The beautiful island of Cos, is one of the best places to go for sailing holidays. As such, a vacation to Greek Islands tends to make an ideal escape, and help you to unwind, loosen up and enjoy the small pleasures of life away from the busy routines, that have a tendency to take up all of one's time and attention. To be able to make sure that you make the most of your love of sailing, you will need to save some money and take time off work, plan everything ahead of the trip. This really is simply that such a holiday can only come, as a lifetime opportunity. After the holiday you usually do not want to go back to your normal life, only wishing instead wish you had indulged in some activities, that you had always wanted to do.

When I first thought of cruising around, I knew I needed to plan financially, so I started saving for this exciting holiday, one year prior to the travel period. This meant that I had to also consider revising my expenses, especially by cutting out some of the things that I could do without, all for a good cause. Therefore, when the time for me to explore the world came, I was all set both mentally and financially.

There different cruise lines that you can choose from, with each having different charges and destinations. The site of the pristine beaches that complement the azure, of the sea with white sand was a spectacular site to behold. I also got a glimpse of Porto, that is a port city and home to a number of historic sites, that perfectly capture the history of this majestic island. I also had the opportunity to go on duty free shopping, just like the many other visitors here.

What I really like about about Cos is the reality that this island, can be a melting point of two cultures primarily the Turkish culture, and the British culture. This exclusive blend of cultures is evident inside the dance, music, arts and the language. Also worth noting is the fact that, you can find street vendors in Corfu who sell anything, from souvenirs to numerous foods such as bananas, local meats, fresh crabs and ice cream and many more dishes.

Buying some of the products that are crafted locally, presents an opportunity to take with you lasting memento,s of not just the heritage, but also the lifestyle and culture. Among the locally made items that most visitors look out for, include woven baskets, wooden carvings, clothes, bags and shoes.

The hotels in the area supply, the most effective accommodation facilities it is possible to ever ask for. Even though right here, I checked in to the Queens guest house, that's located inside the harbor walls peninsula, and is close to the blue waters and golden sand, but close towards the fishing region. The hotel has about 20 rooms which can be nicely furnished with large wooden beds, custom wardrobes, pine tables, for the study and narrow bedside cabinets. Moreover, guests can expect the luxury of other facilities like, high-speed web, satelite television, two line speakerphones as well as a separate shower unit. You are able to also appreciate great food and beverages, that is certainly prepared at the hotel's restaurant. In summary, cruising the seas around the islands offers a terrific experience, as you not merely get to have entertaining, and loosen up but in addition discover aspects with the culture here.
