H20 Keeps You Healthy All Summer

By Bernise Starr

It's that time of year again when the sun is coming out and people are spending more time outdoors having lots of fun enjoying the warm rays. One of the most important things that you can do when you're outdoors is to keep yourself hydrated at all times. One of the most important things you can do for your health when it gets warm is to make sure that you are consuming a sufficient amount of fluids. Believe it or not, some people have actually died from complications from dehydration. Older individuals and extreme athletes are even more susceptible. Here are a few tips to help you cool and hydrated during the warm summer months.

The best way to stay hydrated is to continue to consume fluids throughout the day. Make sure you have something to drink at least every hour. If you don't like the taste of water then why not try flavored water, ice tea or even coconut juice? Sports drinks are a good option if you plan to exercise.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money on buying water bottles then consider buying a water bottle that comes with a built in filter. These bottles automatically filters and cleans the water every time you take a sip. You'll end up saving a lot of money because you won't need to purchase a new bottle every time. It's also very convenient; you'll always be able to have drinking water on hand as long as you're near a faucet plus it's portable and easy to carry around.

You may also want to bring a cooler with you if you plan to be outdoors for a while. Soft coolers are portable and easy to carry around. They can be used to keep drinks cool for many hours even when it's scorching hot outside.

Avoid excessive exertion and exercise between noon and 3 PM since that tends to be the hottest part of the day. Wear lighter clothing to keep you cooler since dark colors will absorb heat. It's also a good idea to wear a wide brimmed hat and sunglasses in order to protect yourself from the soon.

Many people don't realize the dangers of dehydration until it's too late. If you've been overexerting yourself and start to feel faint, dizzy, nauseous or trembling you may want to hydrate as fast as possible.
