Cheer Uniforms For The Cheerleader

By Flora Vinson

An essential part of cheerleading is the look. This is especially true today in the huge world of cheer competitions. Getting the best cheer uniforms for a squad is extremely important, and there are certain things to look for. The following will describe some of these.

Looking good is important, but the cheerleaders have to be ready to perform at a moment's notice. Uniform logistics cannot be worried about when there are last minute do overs, rehearsals, hair and makeup. Good uniforms will have no need to be repinned or have zippers adjusted or fixed because they broke.

Safety is a major concern in cheerleading. Some people are the base for others to stand on, some toss them up, some are the ones jumping and being tossed, and many do flips and tumbling. There can be no flaps or strings hanging from the uniforms. There cannot be a chance of them being snagged or torn.

Most cheerleaders now have a uniform for home games, another for away games, cold weather items, and competition outfits as well. There is the usual short skirt with a fitted top. Sometimes shorts are worn and there can be special t shirts. Males usually wear long pants and sometimes shorts.

What many cheerleaders are concerned more about is the way that they look in their outfits. School colors are the mainstay, and the outfit should be well cut and colorful. This is a must in competition; a squad must stand out among the others.

Shoes are now something that is also looked at with a good cheer outfit. They should look well fashion wise with the uniforms. But must also provide essential support for tough stunts, jumps, and landings.

Part of the reason for Cheer Uniforms to be well cut and tailored and to look specific ways is so that the team looks to be a unit, moving together of one accord.
