The Interesting Thing about Clothes Shops

By Bill Zaner

I do not know what it is but a Bloomberg story aroused my attention. It announced the main shop of Joe Fresh was coming to New York and 5th Ave. That is a pricey test run for Joe Fresh.

It's a more permanent test then what Target did when it agreed to a license with the Mossimo Clothing line. For that run they leased space on 6th Ave in New York City temporarily and then did a marketing campaign around it. The general public did enjoy that and ended up selling out from that store. They then incorporated the clothing line to their usual stores and have seen serious success with it.

What do these 2 stories have in common? Well it's the fact that Target now sells groceries and Joe Fresh?s holding organization is actually the largest retail grocery in Canada. You see the tale about Joe Fresh said that the company actually opened as a result of Wal-Mart encroaching into Canada.

Wal-Mart started selling groceries a little while ago and when they came to Canada they actually taking markets share away from the retail established stores. This is among the reasons many areas don't want Wal-Mart with New York being an excellent example.

To answer this loss of share of the market they introduced a clothing line and opened up an apparel store. The idea of course does have its risks. I do not believe that the company is in denial of this. If the general public does not like the clothing line that the Corporation has introduced that will have bad side effects. Particularly to the base line which certainly counts rather a lot.

However to date it seems that so far the public has had a positive reception to their clothing line and like Target who has additionally seen success with introducing the Mossimo Clothing line in their stores, Joe Fresh sees a bright future in that industry for an extended period of time to come.
