How to Fight and then Cure Adult Acne

By Debra Simone

Adult acne is caused by a variety of things but is almost always unwanted. Once in a while a case becomes so severe that it scars and requires the help of a dermatologist. Most of the time, though, acne is successfully treated with home remedies or over the counter products. Keep reading to learn some of the best ways to cure adult acne.

You can't cure moderate to severe acne simply by washing your face a lot. Still, it is something that should be able to help you in the overall treatment for your acne. Some adults believe that the only real way to cure acne is to roughly wash their face over and over but all this does is cause skin irritation. It's best to wash your face twice every day using warm water that's not too hot and a soft cloth rather than a rough washcloth. Over the counter cleansers are fine but only when they are free of harsh cleansers because otherwise they can make your acne even worse, particularly if your skin is sensitive.

Your primary objective is to have clean skin and to be as gentle with it as possible. Wearing makeup can irritate adult acne when your skin is sensitive to the ingredients in it. Many cosmetics contain a large number of ingredients, some of them harsh chemicals or oils that can cause acne.

This will include a bunch of products that you can use on your skin or hair like oil, moisturizers, pomades and makeup. You won't always be able to trust your manufacturer's claim that the product is "oil free" because the ingredients listings for most cosmetics are not regulated. You can test the product to make sure that it is oil free by putting a drop of it on a piece of white paper. If the drop starts to develop a ring around it, it has oil.

Sometimes acne scars can be removed through cosmetic treatments. Shallow acne scars and issues can be cured with chemical peels--a procedure that removes the top layer of your skin. Chemical peels can be used, for example, to get rid of or alleviate any scarring on your face that occurred because of acne. Most people use chemical peels to help themselves look younger or to remove lines from their faces but some still use them for severe acne cases. These procedures can be performed both in a doctor's office or in a cosmetic surgery center.

Of course, the procedure can also sometimes cause your skin to become discolored or the development of very painful, though temporary, skin conditions. After your skin heals, though, the scars should be gone. This is a process that you should think about if you have acne scars because it can be combined with other treatments. It can be difficult to deal with adult acne but try to find reassurance in the fact that there are a lot of different ways to treat it. Try some of the suggestions we've covered in this article, as they've helped quite a few people clear up their acne. It's also good to change up your diet and experiment with different cures until you find the products that are best for you but the point is that you do not have to live with acne for your whole life. To obtain a product that will easily and effectively eliminate acne, check Hydroxatone review.
