What LED Agriculture Lights Have To Offer

By Jayne Rutledge

As lighting technology continues to evolve, LED lights have become a common sight in homes, commercial establishments and in numerous electronic devices. They are popular because they are long lasting and energy efficient. In the agricultural sector LED agriculture lights provide plants with the light spectrums they need to grow rapidly and healthily.

Grow lights for plants that are of high quality produce light spectrums such as red and blue spectrum light. These light spectrums can be adjusted according to the lighting conditions a specific kind of plant requires. LED plant lamps allow agriculturists who have invested in them to achieve higher production levels. These bulbs ensure that plants receive the almost perfect light required for them to grow and bear fruit.

The produce that comes from farms that utilize LED lighting is also appealing to consumers because it appears fresh. LED lighting also emits lower temperatures than other kinds of lighting. This significantly reduces the rate of evaporation in cultivated farmland. Since these bulbs conserve a lot of energy, farmers are able to significantly reduce crop production costs and this usually translates to higher profits.

The other entities who can benefit from using LED lamps are plant development researchers. These bulbs help plants grow faster allowing researchers to test and review their scientific theories within a short period of time. Agriculture enthusiasts can also utilize this kind of lighting to grow their own vegetables, herbs or other plants even if they do not own a large farm.

LED lamps do not contain mercury and for this reason, you do not have to worry about environmental pollution if they accidentally break. They are available as flood and spot lights, specialty lamps and linear tubes. Most of them are highly adjustable meaning that you can always ensure that they cast light where you need it.

The costs of replacing LED light bulbs are lower than the costs of replacing incandescent bulbs. The reason for this is that LED lighting last for a period of 50,000 hours or more while other types of lighting only last 30,000 hours or less. LED bulbs do not have to be replaced regularly and even though the initial cost of installing them is higher than the cost of installing conventional bulbs, their durability reduces maintenance and replacement costs significantly.

LED lights are also appealing because they do not emit ultraviolet or infrared radiation. They also help commercial establishment reduce their carbon footprint and enhance their corporate image. Since these bulbs do not contain glass, they are ideal for use in food processing establishments where conventional food X ray devices cannot image glass during quality control.

Some of the LED agriculture lights available in the market are fully sealed. This prevents dust and insects from getting into them. Sealed LED lighting is also easy to maintain. Since it runs cool, LED lighting reduces the risk of burns and fire hazards. This kind of lighting also achieves maximum brightness after it is switched on and its light blanket is uniform. LED bulbs are also more robust than the conventional bulbs containing glass filaments and pressurized gases.
