Septic System Inspection Services Offered By Washington Septic Tank Pumping Company Protects Buyers

By Rae Patricio

When buying or selling a home, several different entities may ask for an inspection of the various mechanical systems of a home. One system that requires this type of inspection is the on-site sewage disposal. In addition to the inspection that takes place during the closing of a sale, these units should be checked regularly and pumped as needed. In most cases, a Washington septic tank pumping company provides the inspection.

Waste flushed from the home into tanks includes both solid materials and water. The water passes into the drain field eventually. Much of the solid material is also broken down by bacterial action. However, some of the materials will not break down and remain in the chambers, forming a scum layer floating on the water and a layer of sludge which sinks. Unless removed regularly, a buildup can lead to system failure.

Most modern tanks provide two chambers. Solids are collected in the primary chamber with liquids passing to the second one. In the second chamber bacteria continue to break down any solid material passing through for further protection of the drain field.

Baffles also prevent solids from passing from one chamber to the next or from the final chamber into the drain field. These devices reach below the scum layer to allow liquids to pass. If either of the solid layers becomes too large, the baffles cannot prevent passage of solid materials.

Unless they make regular inspections, the first sign of a problem many homeowners note is a toilet that does not flush properly. Solid materials may have formed a plug at the entry to the system. While servicing at this point can restore the operation of plumbing, it does not reverse any damage to the drain field.

The services of a Washington septic tank pumping company protect the property owner. With proper service, tanks should last many years. Owners who neglect their system may endanger the health of their neighborhood and face major repair costs due to a damaged drain field.
