A Perpetual Lead Generation Website!

By Steven Suchar

A lead generation website is one that encourages a visitor to make an inquiry or opt in to receive further information about services and goods.

When setting up a new website for the purposes of lead generation or adapting a site that doesn't have an opt-in box, consideration should be made when choosing an e-mail program.

There are lots of fantastic companies that may handle all your e-mails, these programs can be designed to send out a series of pre written messages as fast as somebody signing up. Mostly, you can choose the double opt-in process to help protect you and your prospects from getting penalized due to spam issues. I have found that requiring prospects to approve their request for more information, seriously decreases the amount of leads you may eventually get.

You may also need to write your e-mails to provide high value content, not just a sales pitch. Think about it. How long do you stay subscribed to an email list that offers nothing less than a hyped up sales message every two days?

Consider also the information you ask for when you design your opt-in box. People do not like giving out too much information initially, so always get the subscriber's first and last names and you can also have a box for any other information important to your business. As an example, you could have a drop down box that lists the products on your site and from that you can find out particularly what information your subscriber is looking for. If you have six different products you can then build 6 different lists within your e-mail program and target info and other products specifically to those people.

If you set up autoresponders or any kind of e-mail campaign, it is vital that your mails are double checked and then checked again. Many people are not impressed by spelling errors and further more, will not read an e-mail that is a mile long. Make your mails precise and to the point, written in short paragraphs, in a tiny digestible format.

Once your list has grown to a respectable size, you can also send out a once a month newsletter, informing subscribers about new products and services you have added.

Address your subscriber by their first name, not dear customer as is frequently seen. Write your copy as if you're writing to a chum, don't blind them with get this or buy this, it turns folks off. The most effective way of gathering a sale is by helping folks, by giving them important info and anything free is always good, for instance, a report.

Ensure that everything you send your subscriber is important and of worth. If your unsubscriber list builds too quickly, that's a sure sign you're doing something wrong, although you will always encounter some individuals who unsubscribe.

So, understand that your autoresponder and the emails you send out are at the very heart of your lead generation website, you would not have one without it. Spend a while tweaking and refining this side of your system, don't just toss out some email pitches. Relate, form a relationship, ask for feedback and comments.
