The double play is usually fun to handle and even though professional ball players can make it look simple, it can actually be very difficult for the average ball player to master. To get ready for the double play, this means that a runner is put on first and both the first and third basemen stay in the normal position. The second baseman and shortstop, however, should both position themselves closer to second base than usual. This is because if a ground ball comes to either of them, the other one can handle second base and then throw to the first base to finish the double play.
