Enjoying Some Table Rock State Park Bass Fishing Adventures

By Olivia Cross

Table Rock State Park is located around 6 miles from Hollister, MO, near the southern border of the state. Its beautiful surroundings offer outdoor enthusiasts a host of opportunities to get out in the fresh air. This includes an artificial lake that was created by the construction of a dam and visitors can try some Table Rock State Park bass fishing on this.

Fishermen that have invested in the purchase of their own boat are welcome to bring this to the park. Setting this afloat on the lake is possible by using one of the boat ramps, with the park website stating there is no cost to do this. A custom built marina provides boaters with the option of keeping their vessel on the water permanently. This can be done by renting one of the six hundred or so slips that are available.

The marina on the lake offers boat rental as part of its services to visitors. The minimum hire time is a couple of hours and this extends through to full day rental. The Bass Boat is the ideal choice, as this vessel is designed around the needs of fishermen. However, it can carry no more than four and larger groups would need to consider one of the bigger rental models. These include pontoons that can accommodate 12 and tritoons that have capacity for 14.

Table Rock Lake has a shoreline that extends to over 700 miles. This provides plenty of opportunities to find a spot for those that do not want to get out on the water to catch some bass. Fishing in the lake is permitted for twenty four hours a day. However, there is a day-use only area and those using this should be aware that it is only available between the hours of six in the morning and ten at night.

Anyone interested in checking the angling opportunities at the lake can do so through the Missouri Department of Conservation website. This provides details of the upcoming conditions and the best bet for the bass that can be caught. There are a few types in the lake, with these including spotted, largemouth, and smallmouth bass.

The Department of Conservation can be consulted for the regulations when it comes to catching bass. They provide details such as legal catch and keep size, daily and possession limits, and the season for bass fishing. Their website is also a useful resource for information on how to fish Table Rock Lake for the best chances of making a catch.

Those intending to spend some time fishing at the lake should ensure they have the appropriate license to do so. These can be purchased on a daily, annual, or lifetime basis and should be carried while fishing in case inspection is required. They can be purchased beforehand through the Department of Conservation although there are vendors in the area of the park that also have them available for anyone looking to buy on the day they fish.

State Park Marina at Table Rock is a purpose built facility that includes a store for visitors. They stock a variety of fishing gear such as bait and tackle, and this can be helpful for those that find they need supplies on arrival. Anglers can also find other useful items that include maps of the area, as well as sailing attire and accessories.
