Preparing for a City Bike in the Summer

By Rob Sutter

We are currently within November and I don't see city bike usage going up anytime soon. Not many people are going to be keen on riding in the cold unless they have no choice whatsoever or have absolutely no other way to travel. With the weather continuously becoming bitter, I don't feel as though these bikes will have any other place apart from a shed. Until the springtime comes to life, maybe it's time to plan for that.

When I have a city bike in my possession, I want to believe that there are parts of the world that stand to be commuted in. Companies such as Linus have brought these bicycles to the masses for a reason and there are many places made to be ridden in. San Francisco is one such area. There are over sixty miles of paths that bikers can take, which makes getting around on two wheels that much easier. One can only wish that other areas would take this into consideration.

You should consider just how other locations are starting to mold in order to accomodate bicyclists. A number of months ago, it was told that a series of superhighways were about to be implemented into Copenhagen, a subsection of Denmark. It's hard to argue that Copenhagen is a haven of sorts for commuters. It's also an example, in my eyes, as to where this hobby can go once enough years have come to pass.

Speaking of the concept of growth, it seems like other countries have decided to incorporate this very idea of effective travel. Sweden made the announcement that it plans to create a great road in order to connect two separate cities. The road in question would be used exclusively by cyclists, showing that no one idea is confined to one area of the world. Other places have incorporated it well and the snowball effect on display can't be ignored.

These superhighways, without question, promote a great living style and a carbon footprint can easily be reduced as a result. It's something to take into consideration when thinking about city bikes during the springtime and summertime months. One should be in prime condition and it can get to that point through casual cycling. The best thing is that this can be done by just about anyone and planning for those very months has never looked so gratifying.
