I purchased this product with somewhat uncertain expectations because I live in Singapore where the humidity is relatively high. The product documentation suggests that this product works well in countries with low humidity. My hot flashes come on about every 45 minutes, 24/7. I have been told by my doctors this can be expected for the next three years. Perhaps this one just happened to be defective or perhaps my expectations were a little too high. Either way I do not recommend this for any kind of purpose.
A great idea, but shoddy materials. The smell on the sponge left a lot to be desired as well.
The problems were as follows. As a 77 year old woman, the item was too heavy and caused pain to my hand when I held it. This product helped me make my vacation a much more comfortable one. I used it whenever I was outside and turned it off once I got into an air conditioned place.
I have used it both indoors and out. The batteries seem to last, but I have now ordered the AC adapter to use whenever possible.
This thing is really cool, and overall I think it's worth having. You just need to wet the filter, put in the batteries, turn the switch on and it works. The whole water thing didn't seem to make much difference, as the air it kicked out was the same temperature with or without the sponge. I returned the item and bought a 36-inch tower fan for my office instead, and I'm happier with that. If it can't cool inside a 77F room there's no way it can cool in a 90+F Car or even at Disney. I bought the Frogg Toggs Chilly Pad and that cools much better and cost half as much as this device and you don't need a power source of any kind. After using it for a week, the device seems to get louder, it makes these grumbling noises as if the motor is slowing down then picking up pace. I really don't think the motor is going to last more than a year.
I read the reviews, good and bad, and thought the good outweighed the bad reviews. Luckily I was right.
This handy cooler is small enough to put in my carrying case. It's around the size of a large Starbucks coffee cup.
The filter can smell a bit if you don't wash it, simply because it's always wet. It's got an adjustable vent but it only moves up and down.

It's totally exceeded my expectations. Our home is well insulated with 6" exterior walls. CAMPING AIR CONDITIONER. I had been happy to pass my "regular" 3 speed oscillating stand fan to somebody with more space. Given that, it appeared like a reasonable gamble and it was in very good shape. camping air conditioner.
