Forget The Competition - Ruud Air Conditioners Review

By Isaac Wright

The seller has not returned my queries; I want to return the product. I knew that I was paying a high price, and accepted it because it is a unique product.

I ordered this because there is only so much night-sweat and dude-funk one can take in this sort of environment. It just came in the other day, but it appears sufficient to cool a cramped, curtained, coffin-like enclosure!

The extra weight of the batteries are not great for hiking but the comfort at night pays off the hard work. I keep it running on mid power and it runs for a good 8 hours.

Then I opened the box and found that my handy cooler that I spent around $60 for was full of dings and scratches! It had OBVIOUSLY been a previously used unit. I got this for its portability so I use it anywhere, and I find it very functional and helpful. I can lay it flat on my bed and have the filter face up (so the air intake is unobstructed) and it'll be plugged into my computer's USB port. Purchased for a college dorm and it did nothing to cool. Fan is weak and the sponge leaks.

But it's just a tiny battery operated fan with a sponge filter. Why it costs almost $50? My son was 4 months old at that time. We bought the Stroller Cooling System, which is basically the Handy cooler, the air tube, the USB connection and the universal organizer that holds the Handy Cooler when you use it with the stroller, as well a little extra storage for things for you and baby.

When its melted we just drink it and replace it with a new frozen one from the ice cooler. This set up worked really great for out two week trip in Disney World and South Florida. This is my first review on an item just because I dont want anyone to be ripped off like I did. I think the cheap mist fan is comparable to this and it even works better for a price less than 40 bucks. Oh well live and learn. They all say they have the same benefits, but this one actually has the real one and a one year warranty. The knockoffs are cheaper but I'm slightly skeptical about their quality and didn't want to buy that with the potential it might not work. It's best for when you're standing still. I was disappointed to hear its effectiveness diminishes in hot humid conditions.

I've recommended this to my sister-in-law who is planning for a trip to Mexico next month. Hot flashes go away. It moves a lot more air and cools better, and it cost the same. The only reason I could see purchasing this item is if you need a portable battery operated fan, and in all honesty you could probably do better. So I'd have to put this thing really close to my face to feel the air. I wished fan speed was more powerful.
