Now, they will only run on high for maybe 15 minutes (if you're lucky) before quickly winding down and then stopping all-together. That is with *brand new batteries*. I've also tried small fans but they just don't do. This is such a wonderful surprise. This product was ok. I bought it for my boyfriend because it is so hot in his office.
It's no new technology. It's just evaporative cooling technology that's been out for decades.
Bought this one from Amazon after reading the positive review but was so disappointed with it that I wrote this review. The fan doesn't generate enough air flow or cool air to be worth holding it for any extended amount of time. You have to keep it pretty close to you for you to feel the effects. It's surprising effective staying cool and especially good if you do not have a/c in your garage.
You can put the unit on a desk or tabletop, and it will blow a nice stream of cool air at you. I like the way you can rotate the air head ninety degrees, giving you greater flexibility in positioning the unit.
But I am keeping the Handy Cooler as well. This is why: the KuulAire is cooling the ROOM in which I'm in. It really cools best with the water in it so this is the drawback to that. Also, the plug isn't safe for outdoors so you'd want to use it inside a covered area with the batteries only which would wear it down kind of quickly electrically...but when it comes to saving lives of anything little in this heat, I'm pulling out all the stops. This is the fan I've been looking for. It's fairly compact (the size just slightly larger than the palm of my hand). A little bonus is the USB cable which you can jack into your comp. I was unsure of how it worked before I bought this, until I played around with it, I realize it's basically a turbine fan that filters air through a wet filter and for some reason the air comes out is cold. It doesn't cool more than 30 degrees but that is enough for me.
Obviously it is not as strong as air conditioning, but it is saving me a lot in bills. Not only that, but I am no longer having the problem where I am hot and sweaty before I sleep so I turn on the air conditioning to 12 degrees before I sleep and wake up with my teeth chattering and a sniffly nose...no, the handy cooler provides the perfect amount of cooling off that doesn't overdo it like air conditioning does. I wanted to buy the adaptor that claims to give out more power, but when I bought mine last month but they were sold out, it's now in stock again so I'll be getting one now. My expectations were pretty high for this price point, and I am so far satisfied with this product. This small fan delivers cool air flow! I'm building model ships in my garage and I get very hot in my crammed little workspace and needing something not only moves airflow well, but can help keep me stay cool.
