Meatless Food Options: What Does the List of Sporting Event Incentives Include?

By Rob Sutter

Wrigley Field recently made the announcement that it would be providing meatless food options for those looking to buy from its concession stands. Seeing as how these kinds of options were not so readily available in the past, I think that it speaks volumes about the growth of vegetarian diets. There are also a number of incentives which come with this, so it shouldn't be terribly surprising that the movement has come about. Perhaps this trend can carry over to other stadiums in due time.

1. First and foremost, it supplies a number of other options for people to invest money into. Those who eat vegetarian may be turned off by the idea of few meatless food options being available on the menus. There are other items which you can buy that don't contain this product but they are mostly used for snacking and aren't quite as substantial. With more meatless options coming along, it's a process that companies like Quorn can get behind and grant their utmost support to as well.

2. A great number of people will wind up eating healthy during events, perhaps more so than they already have. One of the bigger misconceptions about sports fans is that they will gorge themselves with hot dogs, Italian sausages, or what have you when that isn't entirely the case. There isn't a written rule that says people have to eat particular foods, no matter what. In fact, I'd like to believe that a good number of fans would like to take something into the diet to accompany anything that can be deemed unhealthy.

3. It could potentially drive those who aren't vegetarian to utilize them. If there's one thing that can be said about people in general, it's that curiosity is one of the bigger driving forces that you could potentially imagine. These meals could be ones that are incorporated again and again by those who haven't taken up vegetarian lifestyles. I also believe that, if used enough, it can convince a number of other venues to work them into the menus provided at concession stands, detailing what is available.

Meatless food options appear to be more popular these days than in the past and I think that the fact that they are seen at live events more often says volumes. People know that going about these diets can result in better stints of health. While this is true, not everyone is going to be as committed and may feel like they aren't suited for them. Nonetheless, the products associated with them deserve to be utilized, to promote healthy and exciting events if nothing else.
