The Comfort And Quality Of Dansko Shoes

By Sarah L. Foote

Dansko shoes were originally modelled on Danish clogs because the originators of the label found them to be extremely comfortable. Over the years, new advances have led to their increased comfort. New additions have been made so that they now offer Mary Janes, sandals and a variety of other styles for men, women and children.

There are certain ranges that cater for those with particularly wide or narrow feet. Others are made to allow for their wear with orthotics. Those with medical problems that lead to the need for two different sizes are also catered for through specific channels.

The shock absorption factor of Danskos is as good as that offered by sports shoes. This keeps the back and joints healthy and free of aches. They keep the foot stable during walking so that ankle rolling isn't a problem.

There are many different styles within this brand. The styling has improved substantially over the years so that more fashionable designs can be purchased with the same iconic shape that the original Danish clogs show through a curved heel and round toe. They have wider heels that are more pronounced than ordinary shoes to allow for improved comfort.

There are sizes for every type. Petite and tall people will find their sizes. Suppliers who are approved also give a guarantee on manufacturing defects. If these are reported in good time and are not caused by undue wear and tear, a refund or exchange will be given.

Most Danskos are made from genuine leather but some new ranges are now available that are not. They have been approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association after rigorous assessment. The association carefully weighs up shoes to ensure that they meet the needs of healthy feet.

Slip resistance meets ASTM and SATRA standards in some ranges. The brand doesn't recommend resoling degenerated Danskos. It's preferable to purchase a new pair when the previous one has been through too much wear. The ranges have a remarkably diverse number of leathers including metallic, patent, nubuck and Arabesque.

Every leather type needs to be taken care of differently. Nubuck needs particular attention. To keep the shoe looking new, scuffs may be removed using a wet cloth and leather cream. The cream nourishes the leather to prevent cracks and hardness.

Suede can take extra effort to look after but it does have far more longevity than most expect. It will look new for a long time if it's brushed often. Brushing keeps it clean and free of dirt. A crepe bar is used to clean it and is capable of removing stubborn marks. To protect suede from dirt and water, it should be sprayed with a protector prior to the first wear.

Patent leather is particularly easy to care for because it's protected by a polycoat finish. This is the same coating that makes the leather shine. This shoe will only need to be wiped gently to keep it clean.

This year's range includes trendy Mary Janes, ankle boots and sneakers. Heels of up to two inches are a feature in some styles. When shopping for Dansko shoes for summer, there is the option of full coverage styles or strappy styles.
