Advice For Training For Kilimanjaro

Climbing any mountain is definitely a daunting task. It takes a lot of energy and stamina. By training for Kilimanjaro, a person gets physically and mentally prepared. This is the highest mountain in Africa therefore sufficient preparation is needed. If possible, one should join a gym in preparation for this once in a lifetime event. The goal is to get the body in shape.

Two months of training is the minimum recommended. One can decide to train for more months. When two to four weeks are remaining before one starts the adventure, one should take the intensity of exercising to a whole new level. The finishing touches need to be good. It is important not to forget to rest, some few days before starting the journey. Proper night sleep is needed every day so that muscles can be built and stamina reinforced. Eight or more hours of sleep will come in handy. One can decide to exercise hard during the weekdays and take a rest during weekends.

During the course of exercising, a person should wear the exact boots that will be used to ascend this mountain so that the feet get used to the boots subsequently preventing blisters during climbing adventure. It is also advisable to wear the backpack that will be used during the expedition. This will prepare the shoulders, back and hips for the climb.

The most important exercise that will get one properly prepared for Mount Kilimanjaro is hiking. There is need to stimulate ascension to this physical feature using hikes. This can be done in mountains and hills and steep trails around where a person lives. For those who do not have access to good natural trails around where they live, the best thing will be go to the gym and train on the stair master machine.

Running and walking will also offer much needed help. They make the legs to be strong. Climbing is all about using the legs vigorously. Therefore, getting these parts in great shape is needed. A person should walk as much as possible. A simple measure such as using stairs instead of taking a lift, will also help.

To be best acclimatized to the oxygen-deprived environment of Mount Kilimanjaro, one should train in a high altitude environment. This will make the lungs to be better adapted to oxygen shortages. A climber's ability to quickly adapt to the challenges of high altitudes will determine whether a person will have a successful adventure.

Aerobic exercise will build the cardiovascular system. This will help one to process oxygen in an efficient manner. Such a capability is needed when climbing. Therefore, light to moderate exercises such as walking, cycling and long-distance jogging need to be part of one's fitness regimen. Anaerobic exercises are also needed. This includes sprinting and high intensity weight lifting. These help to build stamina that will help a person to be able to persevere until he reaches the top.

To properly climb any massive mountain, one needs to be fit. Different kinds of exercises will help to get the body in shape. A fit person will efficiently use oxygen, will not tire quickly, and will have the stamina to push towards the mountain peak.
