The Challenge Of Understanding How To Learn To Play Golf

By Patty Goff

Golf is a wonderful game that is popular and loved by both the young and the old. Golf is a great way to spend time outdoors having a great time in a tranquil setting. However, there are some that love the game, but simply don't know how to play it! How to learn to play golf has become a question for the lover of golf that wants to truly become a part of the sport.

It is of utmost importance first of all to know the objective of the game. It is simply putting a little ball in holes across a huge course. This must all be done in an orderly fashion. One can either play a nine-hole game, or one that is an 18-hole. The last player that lands their ball in the final hole is the one that ends the game. However, it isn't until the results are tallied that the winner is chosen.

Learning how to keep score is also very important. Surprisingly, a low score in golf is a good score. Each player receives a point for each time they swing and hit the ball with their club. Therefore, the fewer swings a player takes and is able to get the ball into the hole, the more likely they are to win.

Knowing certain terms such as "par, " is also key. Each hole has a number of points assigned to it known as par. Being "on par" means that the player has reached a certain point value. Other key terms to know are birdies, bogey, and hole in one.

The course is definitely good to know. Five parts make up the course, with one of them being known as the "tee box." Positioned between the green and tee box is the fairway. Places that define the other types of the course are the rough, putting green, and the hazard. Hazards define more of what can be elements such as sand and water that makes it difficult for a ball to escape.

Many first time players can't wait to get a club in their hands. Three types of clubs include the wood, iron, and putter. Each one has physical characteristics that make them useful and strategic for the player.

Taking the proper stance when perfecting one's game is simply the beginning. It is just as important as knowing how to swing the club, along with the power behind it. The start of the game usually begins when players hit their balls from the starting position of the tee box with hopes that it will reach the fairway or the green. Each player gets a turn in swinging according to the starting order.

Even though golfing is a popular sport, it can also be considered to be dangerous. Balls are known to fly and cause a potential hazard for its players. It is recommended that players stand away from the fairway when others are taking swings. A golf round can take anywhere from two to six hours.
