Las Vegas Grand Canyon National Park Spring Break Plane Flights

By Belinda Shields

It's almost time for one of the most fun holidays of the year - Spring Break. With a little planning, you can choose a fun adventure that will pack your holiday with thrills and memories to last a lifetime. Vegas is the ideal Spring Break destination, and when you're there, you can take a side trip to the Grand Canyon and view its splendors from above on an airplane tour.

Two Unique Canyon Regions

When you fly from Vegas, you're not just limited to the nearby West Rim. Touring the South Rim is an option, too, and all you have to do is fly to Tusayan in Arizona to begin the tour. It would take hours to drive to the South Rim from Vegas, but you can fly there in about an hour.

The South Rim is the best destination if you are interested in seeing the beautiful nature scenes in the wilderness area and you don't want to fight a lot of crowds. A great thing about the South Rim airplane tour is that you can upgrade it to include a bus tour through the National Park. You'll get to see many interesting sights during the 2.5 hours allotted for the ground tour. The tour comes with pickup and drop off service at your hotel, and in all, it takes about ten hours to complete. You'll also have plenty of time to explore on your own, especially at the local tourist village where you can shop for crafts, souvenirs, and snacks.

If you're looking for even more adventure, then you can also take a helicopter tour over the South Rim. In fact, the South Rim tour will go to the North Rim and back again. If you want something even longer then there's a 50-minute tour that also goes out to the eastern boundary of the park. This is the most comprehensive helicopter tour available at the Grand Canyon, and it allows you to see over 75% of the Park. A highlight of the South Rim is the Dragoon Corridor. It's the deepest and widest stretch of the Canyon and your helicopter will fly right through it.

If you want to fly a little closer to Las Vegas, then you will enjoy the West Rim. It only takes around 30 minutes to get out there by airplane.

Touring The West Rim

When you fly out to the West Rim, you will be able to spend 2.5 hours exploring its trails and lookout points along the top of the rim. There's plenty of hiking for people of all levels - just make sure that you dress for the weather and wear some comfortable walking shoes. The West Rim is also home to the world famous Skywalk, the glass and steel platform that extends over the edge of the Canyon. It will have you standing 4000ft over the bottom. It's also a great place to get your picture taken.

You can upgrade to include a helicopter flight of the West Rim too. One of the more popular flights is the one that descends into the Canyon and lands near the Colorado River. This allows you to further upgrade your tour to include a float along the scenic river.

Lock In Your Seats Early!

The Canyon will be extremely popular during Spring Break, so make sure that you book your tickets early. You should book at least two weeks prior to the day that you want to fly to avoid any disappointment. Book online with a credit card because that's where the best deals are found. You will also avoid missing out on tickets.

Conclusion

Now you have some great ideas on how to have an exciting fun-filled Spring Break getaway. If you want to tour the scenic South Rim, be sure to upgrade to include the long helicopter flight that goes over the North Rim and eastern edge of the park. If you want to go to the West Rim instead, then you don't want to miss the helicopter ride to the Canyon floor. No matter what tour you take and upgrades you include, your day will be filled with beautiful sights and plenty of adventure when you tour America's most famous natural landmark.
