Research indicated that the compound contributed to degradation of ozone layer once it was released into the atmosphere.

It is the negative effects of refrigeration fluids which forced the environmental protection division to set up regulations to be followed when dealing with coolants. Ultra violet waves are known to cause problems like skin cancer, damage to vegetation, increased cases of eye cataracts and defecting of immune system. If the governing rules are followed to the letter, then the burden of fighting these problems will be avoided.

Freon is very stable and this made it be favorably be applied by many manufacturers in the production of air conditioners. However it is this stability that makes it dangerous to the ozone blanket. The chlorofluorocarbons normally go high up in the atmosphere where they can remain for many years. The energy from sunlight breaks the molecules of the Freon, releasing chlorine which in turn reacts with ozone to produce carbon monoxide and also oxygen.

The horses of equipment applied in recovering refrigerant must have shutoff valves. The connection of the horses to the refrigeration appliance service fittings should be done while the valves are closed. The coolant is recovered up to a point where the refrigerator control indicated a vacuum.

To avoid sacking gases that are not easily condensed, the freezer should be tested to see that it has refrigerant. The specified evacuation level is usually a vacuum of 102 millimeters. The technician can utilize mild heat to melt ice where necessary.

Regulations demand that a technician dresses properly when executing evacuation process. It is only a tank that can be disposed is supposed to be applied in storing products of recycling. To avoid the danger of fire, the cords supplying power to the appliance should always be in a good condition.
